Little hands, big discoveries; learning comes alive at Apeejay School, Tanda Road

Young learners at Apeejay School, Tanda Road, Jalandhar, took part in a series of creative and hands-on activities designed to introduce them to colours, textures and everyday concepts. From painting with brushes to exploring water and ice, the activities gave children an opportunity to learn through observation, movement and play.

Little artists, big achievements!

For the LKG students, it was their first experience of using paintbrushes to colour a picture. The children were given the task of painting a duck yellow. The activity brought together creativity and the excitement of trying something new.

As they held their brushes and applied colour, the young learners practised hand-eye coordination and fine motor movements. It also helped them become more comfortable handling a paintbrush and gave them confidence in their abilities. Each brushstroke was a small but meaningful step in their early learning.

Exploring colours, textures and everyday concepts

A series of activities gave students opportunities to work with different materials and understand simple concepts through practical experiences.

In Cap the Skittles, children matched coloured paper cups or caps with Skittles and carefully covered each one. The exercise encouraged concentration, colour matching, hand-eye coordination and grasping skills.

The Hot Air Balloon Colouring and Cotton Bud Dabbing activity brought art and texture together. Students coloured hot air balloons and used cotton buds to create fluffy clouds. Besides encouraging creativity and colour recognition, the activity helped strengthen their pincer grip and fine motor skills.

During Sail the Boat, children moved paper boats through water using their hands. They also completed a cut-and-paste boat activity. This helped them explore cause and effect while developing motor planning, coordination and imagination.

The Ice & Water activity introduced the difference between ice and normal-temperature water. By touching and observing both, students explored temperature, developed sensory awareness and built observation skills and vocabulary.

Together, these activities made early learning more practical, allowing children to explore familiar concepts through their experiences.
