The best parenting mantra for a child revolves around the principles of unconditional love and consistent guidance. “This balanced approach fosters healthy attachment, strengthens parent-child relationships, and promotes the overall well-being and development of the child,” believes Roopa Vernekar whose daughter Saanvi is studying in class X at Apeejay School, Nerul.

Excerpts from the interview

Why did you select Apeejay for your child?

The most important reason for choosing this school is the proximity to our home. We wanted our child to not go very far for school. Moreover, Apeejay is the best CBSE School in Nerul and as parents, we want the best for our child.

How are the teachers here?

I will always recommend this school for the top-class teachers it has. I want to especially mention the way the teachers here plan the school curriculum and syllabus, it’s so smooth and easy for the students to grasp. I am in complete awe of the professionalism that the staff of this school displays.

Board exams are next year, any stress due to that?

We are not the kind of parents who believe in putting any pressure on the child for Boards or studies. My child, Saanvi, has always been a responsible girl. She will handle all her studies well without any reminders. I believe in my child and know that she will outshine herself.

How is the balance between extracurricular activities and academics here?

Saanvi loves to play badminton and often participates in many inter-school competitions.

Describe your parenting mantra.

We as parents don’t believe in putting any sort of constraints on our child. Saanvi is a much-sorted child, and I have complete faith and trust in her. I know that she knows what is best for her and is aware of the wrong things or certain trends she can be misguided about. Therefore, she is a very well-behaved and disciplined child.

Do you believe in the adage – that school is the second home for a child?

If we, as parents, are aware of our responsibilities and follow them duly then school is like another value addition in the growth of the child. We all know that there are plenty of negative influences lurking around our children, like drugs, social media, smoking, and drinking. But ultimately the way both parents and the school steer clear of them is a crucial step towards keeping a child safe.
