It doesn’t always take grand gestures to change a student’s life. Sometimes, all it takes is trust – a quiet belief from a teacher, a position of responsibility, or simply being told, “You can do this.”
When students are trusted with roles and expectations, even before they feel fully ready, they often rise to the occasion. That sense of belief – especially from an adult – can shape a child’s self-image for years to come.
More Than Just Marks
Sahib Singh, alumnus of Apeejay School, Saket (Batch of 2009), recalls how one teacher’s faith in him changed the way he saw himself, “I wasn’t a topper, but my teacher still made me class monitor. She told me, ‘It’s not just about marks. I’ve seen discipline and sincerity in you.’ That stayed with me.”
This trust became a turning point. Today, as an executive producer managing teams at Saheb Productions, Sahib continues to apply the same principle – recognising potential even before it’s proven.
When Students Feel Seen, They Grow
Being trusted tells a student: You are capable. You matter. This silent message nurtures responsibility, ownership, and motivation. Students often begin to live up to that belief – not out of pressure, but pride.
These roles don’t always have to be formal. Whether it’s handling stage props, leading a morning assembly, or being asked to mentor a junior, such opportunities plant seeds of leadership and self-belief.
A Small Risk with a Big Reward
As educators and parents, trusting a child can feel like a leap of faith. But more often than not, it pays off. Even if they stumble, students learn resilience, accountability, and the value of effort.
Because when someone believes in you – even before you fully believe in yourself – it creates a quiet, lasting impact. And that, more than any mark sheet, is what shapes the adults they’ll become.
