The faculty at this institute was good; I had plenty of fun too

Having been born and brought up in Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, it was a big decision for Narayan Sharma to move to Sohna, Gurugram, and pursue a course. However, after completing his class XII Science (Non-medical) he was keen to do a DPharma course.

“I would have preferred to stay in Kanpur and do the programme but no college or institute offered a course in DPharma in my city. I had no choice but to look for institutes outside of Kanpur. During my search, I came to know about the course offered by Apeejay Stya University-School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. What I read online impressed me and I enrolled. I have not regretted my decision,” Sharma said.

Tell us about your campus days.

I would not say that they were extraordinarily fun. Most days were normal. We went to the class and attended the lectures. But yes, there were days we had fun as well. I had good classmates and we would meet after classes and enjoy ourselves.

Did you stay in the hostel?

No, though I had the option but I preferred to stay with a bunch of other people who were also pursuing a programme at ASU. We took a room in Sohna and would commute from there. This made it easy for us to have fun during weekends. There were challenges on how to manage everything on our own but it was fun.

How was the faculty?

I joined in 2017 and passed out in 2019. The faculty was really good. They made the classes interesting. Studying the names and salts of medicines can be boring. But the professors tried their best to ensure that we managed to learn all the names and not forget them.  I would like to mention the names of Manoj Sharma, Sanjay Sharma, Anisha, and Mohini ma’am. They were all very good.

Where are you working at present?

I am working with Netmeds. I joined here recently – it has been three-four months. Before that, I was working with Apollo Pharmacy. I didn’t apply for my first job from the placement cell because I wanted to go back to Kanpur, stay with the family, and work there. So, I applied for the job on my own. So, I have been working since I passed out in 2019.

A memory that is close to you.

As such each day at ASU was memorable. We had nice faculty and good friends. The facilities were good as well. But one that stands out is my work with an NGO that I joined at ASU — National Service Scheme. The work that we did under this was amazing. It felt nice to give back to people who need help.

Would you recommend ASU to others?

Of course. It is a great place to study. The interactive teaching method is brilliant. I would say everything here is good. We got to do projects and that helped me when I joined my first job. The teaching methodology at this institute is good and makes you industry ready.
