The dichotomy of technology: A great servant or a terrible master?

Technology is essentially a fancy term for scientific knowledge put into practical use. Many of us utilise technology as a helpful servant in our daily lives, but what if it were to become our master?

Some argue that such a scenario could spell the end of the world. But why? Is technology gradually moving towards a position of authority? Well, technology has penetrated in every bit of life – right from the time we wake up till we fall back to sleep. And so, the excessive use of different electronic devices like mobile phones, tablets, etc. is causing people to become antisocial, fostering laziness and anxiety. Moreover, it exposes us to fraud, scams, and unrealistic social media platforms that can negatively impact the viewer’s self-esteem.

Now, let’s consider the future. If technology were to gain complete control and make its own decisions, it could treat us similarly to how we treat animals. Trying to control it would be nearly impossible. The artificial intelligence (AI) may come to view us as useless and unintelligent from its perspective, leading to a potential elimination of our existence. This might sound harsh, but it reflects a form of ideology similar to human behaviour—disposing of what is considered useless.

Therefore, keeping technology in check and preventing it from developing a mind of its own, as harsh as it may seem, is the best course of action for all species on this planet. In conclusion, technology is a fantastic servant but a terrible master. We’ve all heard its name, and for us, the “Generation – Z,” it is akin to a companion.
