Students showcase talent and determination at Abhivyakti 2023

In a splendid showcase of talent and collaborative spirit, Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg in Jalandhar, hosted its Annual Appreciation Day, Abhivyakti 2023, on December 30, 2023. The event marked a celebration of diversity, unity, and the integral partnership of parents, emphasising the school as a second home in every child’s educational journey.
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by esteemed guests, including Chief Guest, Mr. Balkar Singh, Hon’ble Minister for Local Bodies and Parliamentary Affairs and other distinguished guests, Mr. Nirmal Mahajan, Member – Board of Governors, Apeejay Education and Dr. Sucharita Sharma, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, Gurugram and Director – Schools in Jalandhar. The event was graced by Apeejay members, Mr. VK Khanna, Mr. Malkiat Singh, Mr. AK Sharma, Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Dr. Neerja Dhingra.
The invocation dance, a graceful performance praying to goddess Durga, captivated the audience with its elegant movements and coordinated steps. It set the stage for an evening that would unfold as a witness to the exceptional talent of Apeejayites.
Mr Singh, in his address, expressed delight at being part of the event and emphasised the role of teachers in motivating students to contribute to society. He encouraged all to aspire to become officers in government services of Punjab, highlighting the significance of a balanced approach in facing the challenges of today for a brighter tomorrow.
A heartfelt acknowledgement was extended to Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Education, and Chancellor Apeejay Stya University, the only daughter of our beloved Founder-Chairman. The school showcased gratitude to her mentorship and the immense support from her children, Mr Nishant Berlia, Co-Promoter Apeejay Stya and Svran Group and Pro-Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University; Mr Aditya Berlia, Co-Promoter Apeejay Stya and Svran Group and Pro-Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University; Dr Neha Berlia, Co-Promoter of Apeejay Stya & Svran Group and Pro-Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University, as the next-generation entrepreneurs, supporting Apeejay in achieving greater success with their philanthropic approach, leading society forward.
Next, Ms. Sushma Kharbanda, the Pre-primary in-charge with an illustrious 38-year tenure, introduced the theme of the Annual function – a portrayal of life’s moments through art, dance, and expression. The event continued with the rendition of the school song, symbolising a sense of belonging and unity, embodying the institute’s ideals, mission and values.
Mr Aditya Berlia shared his thoughts on the big day. He said, “I would like to thank all the parents and students. We have continuously moved forward for 75+ years and every part of the institute has been built brick by brick; your accomplishments add one more layer to the foundation. As part of the school report, I got a chance to view the national and international achievements of the students. With this, our wonderful alumni across the world handling different professions is a matter of great pride for us. It is always a delight to see how capable our students are.”
“Experimenting with AI — Apeejay Education is at the forefront of technology. We are moving forward with AI labs — a transformative step for the future. This year is the year of AI and we are rewriting the curriculum of the school. We are in the process of launching a few exciting things in the next 30 days regarding AI. Within the next two years, all will be fully AI-equipped. Besides, preserving critical human values will be part of our journey. Finally, I would like to advise students to consider a career in public service; it is the highest calling one can have! We must also feel gratitude because everything starts and ends there.”
Followed by this, Mrs. Sangeeta Nistandra, the Principal of Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, welcomed the distinguished guests, highlighting the school’s stellar achievements, including being recognised as the Best School for providing holistic education in 2023. She introduced the Dr. Stya Paul award winners, acknowledging exceptional results in Class X and XII, inter-school competitions, sports, and scholarships.
A captivating performance titled Discovering a New You showcased the eloquence and confidence of the students. The subsequent Prize Distribution ceremony was a moment of celebration and inspiration for the young achievers.
The Annual Appreciation Day, Abhivyakti 2023, not only celebrated achievements but also fostered a sense of purpose, unity, and inspiration among the Apeejay School community, leaving an indelible mark on its journey of excellence. A dance spectacle by students followed through with power-packed performances. Panchbhootam gyan yatra was also showcased by the stellar students of the schools.
Finally, the Vote of Thanks was delivered by the Vice-Principal of the school. She commended the efforts of students, teachers and staff for putting up a great show. The event concluded on a high-note with a bhangra performance followed by the National Anthem.
