Labour Day was observed at Apeejay School, Sector 15, Faridabad, through a special assembly that centred on the dignity of labour and the often unseen contributions that sustain daily life. The programme aimed to help students pause and reflect on the role of workers, both within the school and in the wider community.
The assembly began with a morning prayer, followed by short speeches that underlined the importance of respecting every profession. Students spoke about how different roles, though varied in nature, remain equally essential. The message stayed grounded in a simple idea: respect is not linked to status but to effort and honesty in work.
Student voices and expression
Students used poetry, skits, and brief speeches to express their understanding of the theme. Their performances focused on everyday interactions within the school, drawing attention to the work of support staff who often remain in the background. The effort felt thoughtful rather than staged, with each segment building on the same message of gratitude.
As part of the assembly, students presented handmade greeting cards to the school’s support staff. The gesture, though small, carried a sense of direct acknowledgement. It helped move the conversation from ideas to action, even if in a simple form.

A message that stays
The school Principal addressed the gathering and encouraged students to recognise the value of every individual’s contribution. The emphasis remained on developing a habit of respect, not limiting it to a single day or event.
Such conversations, when introduced early, have the potential to shape how students carry these values forward into their lives.
The assembly concluded with a vote of thanks and a reminder that dignity of labour is not an abstract concept. It is visible in everyday interactions, in how people speak, acknowledge, and include others.
