Parents oriented towards holistic learning at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg
An interactive orientation programme introduces parents of pre-nursery to Class V students to the school’s innovative curriculum, experiential learning practices, and child-centric teaching approach
There is an adage: A parent is a teacher at home, and a teacher is a parent in school, and the child is the centre of our universe. With this inspiring thought, an Orientation Programme for the parents of students from pre-nursery to Class V was organised at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg. The programme aimed to familiarise parents with the school’s curriculum, teaching methodologies, rules, regulations, and overall educational philosophy.
The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a warm welcome address by the school Principal, Mr Yashpal Sharma. In his address, he highlighted the importance of strong communication between parents and children and encouraged parents to remain actively involved in every stage of their child’s learning journey. He stressed that parental support and participation play a vital role in the holistic development of children.
The Principal also emphasised the significance of inquiry-based learning and experiential education in nurturing curiosity, creativity, and confidence among young learners. Sharing valuable parenting insights, he urged parents to instil punctuality, discipline, and positive values in their children while also ensuring quality family time.
To provide parents with a firsthand understanding of the school’s innovative teaching practices, several engaging and interactive activities were organised. These activities showcased experiential learning, STEM-based learning, Jolly Phonics, thematic learning, subject-integrated teaching, and learning through manipulatives. Parents enthusiastically participated in the sessions and gained deeper insights into the learning outcomes associated with these pedagogical approaches.
An informative presentation was also conducted to acquaint parents with the vision, mission, and objectives of the school. The programme further included an interactive query session where parents had the opportunity to seek clarifications and discuss their concerns with the Principal and faculty members.
The teachers also presented an overview of various academic subjects, teaching methodologies, and co-scholastic activities, making the orientation session informative, engaging, and enriching for all attendees.
