Oxford University Press (OUP) India has collaborated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to introduce a research-based Capacity Building Programme (CBP) called Think–Share–Learn–Practice (TSLP). The initiative is designed to assist teachers in effectively implementing the National Curriculum Framework at the Foundational Stage (NCF-FS).

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this collaboration was signed in July, coinciding with the 3rd anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The signing ceremony was graced by the presence of Minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan. Pilot training sessions for CBSE master trainers were conducted between September and October 2023 in Chennai, Guwahati, and Delhi.

The primary objective of this training programme is to empower teachers from 25,000 schools to establish an activity-centric learning environment and bridge the gap in teaching methodologies for students aged three-eight years, encompassing Bal Vatika 1, 2, 3, and grades one and two.

The TSLP equips teachers with the knowledge and core skills necessary for curriculum design and teaching-learning practices. This training aims to facilitate a smooth transition towards a comprehensive, activity-driven, and experiential learning environment deeply rooted in Indian values.

Dr Nidhi Chhibber, Chairperson of CBSE, conveyed that CBSE, with its extensive network of over 25,000 schools, has always been dedicated to exploring avenues for advancing the school teaching-learning system. Capacity Building of the teachers is of paramount importance, as they serve as the torchbearers for the change we aspire to see in the foundational segment.
