My unforgettable first TV commercial shoot experience

As the sun rose over the bustling city of Hyderabad, my heart raced with excitement, nervousness, and anticipation. It was the day I had been eagerly waiting for—the day of my first-ever TV commercial shoot. The brand was none other than Honda, a name synonymous with innovation and quality in the automotive industry. Little did I know that this experience would turn out to be a defining moment in my budding career as a Copywriter.

Months of preparation and hard work had led me to this point. The shoot location was set amidst the picturesque landscapes of Hyderabad, offering a perfect backdrop for showcasing Honda’s iconic two-wheelers. I couldn’t help but be in awe of the beauty of the location, and the thrill of being on a real shoot set was beyond words.

Under the guidance of the acclaimed director, Shaunit Motwani, who had an impressive repertoire of successful campaigns under his belt, I knew my shoot was in the right hands. Working with someone of his caliber was both humbling and inspiring. As an aspiring Copywriter, I was eager to learn and absorb everything like a sponge, hoping to leave a lasting impression with my contributions.

The pre-production experience was nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. From script brainstorming sessions to storyboarding and casting, I witnessed first-hand how every small detail mattered in creating a compelling TV commercial. Throughout the process, FCB India was incredibly supportive, and I was grateful to them for giving me the opportunity to present my scripts to the client. It was a moment of pride and nervousness as I stood before my seniors, pitching my ideas with fervour.

In this journey of mine, I must acknowledge the pivotal role played by Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication. It was this institute that honed my creative instincts and equipped me with the necessary skills to thrive in the competitive world of advertising. The faculty members and mentors were a constant support throughout, and without their guidance, I wouldn’t have reached this milestone so early in my career.

As the shoot day approached, I couldn’t help but feel a mix of emotions. The set was abuzz with energy, and as the cameras started rolling, my heart skipped a beat. Seeing the actors bring my words to life was surreal, and I felt a deep sense of satisfaction, knowing that my ideas were taking shape into a real commercial that would be broadcasted to a vast audience.

Indeed, it is rare for an intern like me to be entrusted with such a significant responsibility so early in her career. But it was this trust and belief from the agency and the director that pushed me to give my best. Each passing moment on the set reaffirmed my passion for advertising and strengthened my resolve to pursue a career in this field.

As the shoot concluded and the assistant director declared, “It’s a wrap!” I couldn’t help but smile from ear to ear. This experience had been nothing short of a dream come true. I will forever cherish the memories of my first TV commercial shoot, and I am eager to take on more challenges and contribute my creative voice to the world of advertising.

In conclusion, I am immensely grateful to everyone who played a role in making this experience possible. From the brand, the agency, to the director, and Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication for nurturing my skills—this journey has been a testament to the power of passion and hard work.

The lights may have dimmed on this shoot, but the flame of creativity within me burns brighter than ever. This is just the beginning of my journey, and I cannot wait to see what lies ahead as I continue to explore the limitless possibilities of the world of advertising.
