“Musings” by Mudita Raj is a poetic journey encompassing romance, Sufi mysticism, self-help, lyrical expressions, and narrative poetry. The book captivated me right from its introduction, where Ms Mudita eloquently advises readers to cherish the simple beauties of life.

The book’s introduction is an irresistible invitation to love both the book and the soulful personality of Mudita. Her reassuring words, “You are not alone, and even if we don’t know each other, you have a friend in me,” establish an immediate connection with the reader.

Comprising 25 distinct and beautiful poems, the book serves as a remedy for challenging days by gently reminding readers of life’s simple joys. Each poem unfolds a unique story with a profound message, potentially offering solace and soul transformation.

In her first poem, Accents in Your Eyes, Mudita explores the unspoken language of tears, conveying a sense of profound understanding and empathy. The second poem, My Canvas, features impactful lines like, “I have so much to share, yet nothing to show, I have so much to say, but nothing to speak,” showcasing the depth and richness of her poetry.

Mudita effortlessly connects with aspiring and ambitious women who strive to lead a life on their terms but face challenges. In the poem Simply Look Past Me, she portrays herself as a princess bound by societal expectations, emphasising the conflict between ‘shoulds’ and ‘wants.’

For those who often feel disheartened when life doesn’t align with their plans, Mudita’s motivational poem Breathe encourages embracing the present moment. She underscores the importance of self-trust as the key to a successful and happy life in The Shadow and the Veil.

In The Lessons of Love, Mudita unveils the realities of love in the contemporary era, asserting, “Love is now a lesson for me, a lesson on choosing myself instead of waiting to be chosen.” She addresses societal issues concerning women in Saraswati Durga Kali Left Forgotten.

Two poignant poems, The Happily Ever After and The Start explore the hindrances that impede personal growth. Each poem in the collection holds a significant meaning.

In conclusion, the book imparts the wisdom that life is unpredictable and filled with surprises. Mudita encourages readers to trust, love, and embrace themselves, even amid challenges. She reminds us that it’s okay to experience sadness and tough times because life is not about constant happiness. Instead of being weighed down by bad memories, learn from them.

In Mudita Raj’s words, “Smile because you have you.” This resonates as a powerful reminder to find joy and strength within oneself.
