According to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) India Report (21-22), India’s entrepreneurial activity expanded in 2021, with its total entrepreneurial activity rate increasing to 14.4% in 2021, up from 5.3% in 2020 for adults (aged 18–64), who have started or run a new business. Further, as per Startup India, an initiative of the Government of India, the country has the 3rd largest startup ecosystem in the world, with more than 50,000 startups in India. Undoubtedly, the pace of growth in the startup ecosystem has increased over the years with new ventures launching and more and more incubators and accelerators growing pan-India.
Thus to further empower India’s startup culture and help aspirants achieve their entrepreneurial goals, Apeejay School of Management (ASM), Dwarka, in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Sleepwell Foundation, conducted a 3-day workshop on “How to start a business” for all PGDM students of ASM.
Under the Institute Innovation Council, ASM has also set up ‘Dr Stya Paul Incubation Centre’ to promote entrepreneurship amongst students.
The three-day workshop was attended by Ms Namita Gautam, Managing Trustee, Sleepwell Foundations and Director, Sheela Foams Ltd, Mr Suman Nath from CII and Prof. Chandra Shekhar M, CEO MacLead Certification Ltd and Prof (Dr ) Alka Munjal, Director Apeejay School of Management.

The workshop was conducted across 14 modules covering topics like understanding the business ecosystem, insights on choosing the right business, role of digital marketing, importance of creating a strategic business plan and registration of the business. A SWOT analysis for business is a powerful process as it gives startups a clear view of their current position and helps them understand how to be more successful. Thus, an engaging session on the same was also conducted in which aspirants learnt how various internal and external factors can impact a business.
