It is only through opportunities that children are able to understand themselves. Activities and competitions inspire children to do their best. And it is in that very process that children lay the foundation stone for their future selves.

Apeejay School, Noida realised this simple truth many years ago. This is in fact the very cornerstone of their education philosophy, which has a special emphasis on pre-primary students. The school organises a plethora of competitions for the development of its students. And the recently held inter-school competition ‘Nav Udaan 2023’ was another feather in their cap.

The 12th edition of this inter-school fiesta catering to students across nursery to class 2 was based on the theme, ‘Healthy living’. More than 170 students from ten prestigious schools across Delhi-NCR participated enthusiastically in five different events. The fiesta saw a great age-wise mix of events: Shake It Up (Dance event) for Nursery students, Happy Feet (Zumba event) for Kindergarten students, Health Is Wealth- Poem recitation for class one students and Salad making and Kathputli (Puppetry dance event) for second class students.

Mr.  AK Sharma, Principal of the school, was delighted to witness the energetic students and excitement to spend a day full of learning through various fun events. He encouraged all tiny tots to creatively explore their surroundings. He also exhorted the importance of creative activities in  boosting the self-esteem of children, thereby enabling them to live with emotional stability.

The event was a perfect amalgamation of music, dance and creativity. The message of healthy eating and healthy living reverberated throughout every activity.  The Judges appreciated the efforts of the tiny tots and were amazed by their talent. Ms Anju Arora, the judge and child nutritionist at Apeejay Noida, was delighted to see the efforts from the shining toddlers. She exclaimed, “It was enthralling to see the second class students putting up a great show of creativity during the salad making competition. The animal theme salads were simply awesome. The assembling and presentation techniques,  using rainbow coloured vegetables and fruits was a captivating route  to a nutritious diet. The kids gave a tough time to us judges in singling out the winners, as all salads were presented very well.”

Every participant was also given a story book along with the participation certificate. The winners across different event categories were presented with a trophy and the certificate of merit. Students of DAV School Noida and Lotus Valley International School mesmerised the judges with their stupendous performances and won most of the prizes.

Speaking about the competition, Mrs Juhi Mehta, the event coordinator, stated, “The objective to organise this event was to develop awareness towards  healthy living. This event successfully helped in developing the confidence of students and motivated them to do better in life.”
