Students of Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC) organised an industrial visit this month to the publication unit of Punjab Kesari, a well-known newspaper in India. AIMETC regularly organises such industrial visits to promote experiential learning wherein students get a first-hand understanding of how a company functions.

AIMETC students across departments, from MBA to BBA, MCA, BCA, BCom, BTech CSE, and BTech CSE (AI & ML) attending Skill Enhancement Classes went for this educational visit. They witnessed the day-to-day operations of a media organisation and interacted with the employees in various departments.

The industrial visit helped students get practical insights into the effective use of technology and resources coupled with the implementation of efficient managerial and technological practices. While comprehending the intricacies of cross-departmental functioning, they learnt the importance of effective communication, management skills, time management, quality control, and ways to enhance operational efficiency.

The students had a fruitful industrial visit where they demonstrated their enthusiasm and curiosity. They expressed their gratitude to the AIMETC faculty — including faculty coordinators Dr Deepak Bisht and Rajinder Kaur, assistant professors at AIMETC — for providing them with this wonderful opportunity and equipping them with industrial knowledge.

Surbhi Mahajan, an MBA student, said, “It was an eye-opening experience. We had the opportunity to get a first-hand look at the printing process of one of India’s leading newspapers. It was fascinating to witness the coordination and precision required to produce a daily newspaper.”

BBA student Jatin added, “The visit was informative and engaging. We had the chance to interact with professionals and gain insights into the newspaper industry. Witnessing the utilisation of advanced machinery and technology in the printing process was truly impressive. Overall, it proved to be a valuable learning experience.”

Talking about the excursion, Dr Rajesh Bagga, Director, AIMETC, said, “We believe that industrial visits are an integral part of our student’s learning journey. It offers them a chance to observe and understand the practical application of the concepts they study in classrooms. By organising such visits, we strive to provide our students with a holistic education that prepares them for the challenges and demands of the professional world.”

In line with Apeejay’s mission to promote students’ holistic development, AIMETC also organised a series of free Skill Enhancement Certification Courses recently. Enthusiastic students participated in various management-skill-based games and problem-solving exercises. And they demonstrated exceptional teamwork and critical thinking skills.
