Mr. Rishabh Gupta, a businessman dealing in the wholesale and retail of plywood and hardware, is an alumnus of the 2014 batch of Apeejay Charkhi Dadri. In an interesting interview, Mr. Gupta discusses the work his business entails, future projects and also highlights how it is always better to create employment opportunities for others. Edited excerpts:

Please tell us a bit about your current work profile?

In this field, we purchase plywood and related items like mica and hardware. We buy them in bulk. The main hub of hardware is in Rajkot while the main hub of plywood is in Yamna Nagar. After we buy them in bulk, the distributors, small-scale shopkeepers and retail customers purchase it from us.

What was the inspiration to enter the world of business?

From the very beginning, I wanted to become a businessman. My father is also a businessman. I learnt from my father that it is better to provide working opportunities for others. Like employing four people rather than snatching away someone’s employment. My father has an oil mill but I have started my business in a different sector altogether. The idea was to generate more employment for the people. I supervise a staff of nine people at the shop and around forty people in the factory.

Please tell us  some of your best memories from your school days?

The best memories would include playing with my friends in the playground during the games period. In the other schools of our locality, children would not have a games period. But in Apeejay, Charkhi Dadri, we would be provided with this period for refreshment. We would engage in different activities. Some students would play indoor games while some would play outdoor sports. I would play table tennis and football. I fondly remember playing as a defender in the football matches.

What are your future targets in the world of business?

The future targets include increasing our annual turnover and expanding our business to different regions.

What life lessons would you like to give to current students at Apeejay Charkhi Dadri?

The students who want to excel in all the fields should prefer Apeejay, Charkhi Dadri. The school focuses a lot on the extra-curricular activities. Painting, sports, academics, personality development, speaking skills, the school teaches everything to the child. Students at Charkhi Dadri are way ahead when it comes to personality development.
