Through her abilities in brand building, marketing communications, social media marketing and influencer management, Diyashree is helping brands to reach their relevant target audience. In a wide-ranging interview, the social media marketer explains how it’s a delightful experience to be working in this sphere of social media which was once her favourite subject. Edited excerpts:

What does a day at the office look like?

A day at the office looks very hectic. Almost everyday, a new brief comes up from a client and we get busy making the creative for them and keeping the things aligned in different social media networks. I love it when a brand asks us if we want to work on a certain campaign, with a certain vision. If we are working on an upcoming festival, we make a digital film, digital posts – basically we do it all. The day is very hectic but I enjoy it a lot. It’s a very productive experience.

What are some of your best memories from the AIMC days?

The AIMC fest that was held was the best. At that point, we were divided into different teams to work with a few blind students for a project. We were working with students who without seeing the world could explain everything about it. It was an incredible experience for us.  My team was incredible as well. We were very proud of that project. The project was about finding an angle as we were helping underprivileged students to get education and be a part of the cultural events in our campus.

What life lesson would you give to a current student at AIMC?

I would suggest the projects given by teachers are an opportunity for practical learning. So, make the most of it. It’s much more than just a college project. It gives us a real-life experience of working, like one does in a job. All the activities such as getting sponsors, trying to build a poster campaign or digital campaign, are helping us today in a great way. Focus on these practical things you learn in college, these help you in your job.

How did AIMC help you to be where you are today?

AIMC showed me the path in life. After my under graduation, I was very confused about where to go, what to do. But AIMC showed me exactly what I wanted to do. We had a lot of subjects and social media was my favourite. But now that I am doing it in real life, I know how a small story can form an entire campaign and the manner in which it reaches people.

What are your future targets?

I am planning to move abroad and work in this field of social media marketing. Maybe I would shift to Dubai if I get a chance and explore more opportunities in this field. I also want to be a part of influencer marketing. I want to be in a broader picture because this field is evolving day by day.
