Sapna Verma, founder, Royal Seas Enterprises, has adopted a unique way of raising her two sons. Away from the hustle-bustle, the family resides in a farmhouse to teach the kids about sustainable and eco-friendly living—they grow their own vegetables and use solar energy for electricity. Akin to her upbringing is the way her sons’ school Apeejay International Greater Noida inculcates good values and etiquette in children, says the mother-of-two. Her elder son Shaurya is in class 2 while the younger one Suryansh has just joined in nursery. In an interview, Sapna shares in detail how the school takes care of not just academics but every aspect of a child’s growth. Edited excerpts:

What made you choose Apeejay International School, Greater Noida?

We moved to Noida from Delhi in 2020 when Shaurya was enrolled in the school. While looking for schools in the area I came across good reviews about Apeejay’s curriculum. Even my clients in Delhi and Mumbai said Apeejay was one of the best schools one could opt for. When I finally visited the school and learned about its legacy, I was very impressed. My sole purpose has always been to raise my children as good human beings and I was happy to see the school focusing on this aspect.

Would you say the school met your expectations?

The teachers are very supportive and understanding. They always listen to the children and parents. They are never in a hurry to complete a topic—they give all the time children need to understand a particular concept. This is really important. Even in the online classes, we saw how the teachers kept interacting with each child. The school principal is also very nice. Every day, she takes a round of the classes. She even watches what lunch children bring to school and gives suggestions to parents if necessary.

Your children have started attending school physically. Are they enjoying the experience?

Both my children love going to school. The teachers are actually very cooperative and loving and my sons are fond of them. As a businesswoman, I have limited time to spend with my children, but the way teachers take care of them makes me feel that they are in safe hands. I am never worried about them.

Are they participating in co-curricular activities?

Yes, I tell the teachers to always involve them in as many activities as possible. I want my children to get maximum exposure. In this school, children get the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities, which is why they never get bored. My children enjoy going to school.

Do your children get personal attention from the teachers?

Initially, Shaurya was upset about having to leave his previous school and join a new one. But his teacher Aishwarya Ma’am helped us a lot to get him to adapt. She also guided me on how to work on my son’s strengths and weaknesses. Even now, the teachers give us timely feedback and help us understand how our children can improve.

Suryansh is showing progress too. He has learned colouring skills. My children’s communication skills and confidence levels have also improved.
