How I spent the holidays

Winter vacations have always held a special place in my heart, bringing in a lot of love, joy, and laughter. Each winter break gives me memories to cherish for a long time. During my early years in primary classes, the winter vacation was a time to simply eat, sleep, play, and visit friends and relatives. However, as I progressed into senior classes, the dynamics started to change.

Spend time with family and cousins: Despite the study pressures, I had a wonderful time with the entire family. Due to my demanding school schedule, it’s challenging to spend quality time with them regularly. Winter vacation provides a rare opportunity for all of us to come together.

Spend time with grandparents: My grandparents live in another city, and we visit them during both summer and winter breaks. This year, we plan to spend a few days at their place. Their home is a haven, with a spacious lawn, beautiful trees, and plants. Visiting my grandparents is the highlight of my vacation, as it holds a special place in my heart. I cherish the moments spent with my grandfather, who shares valuable life experiences, narrates stories, and imparts wisdom that enriches our lives.

I also plan to indulge in some of my favourite activities during the winter break. I’ve booked two pottery classes a week, which I’ll be attending with my sister. Additionally, I intend to go for an evening walk regularly during the holidays. The winter evenings have a magical charm, and a stroll in the park is incredibly refreshing—an experience I wouldn’t want to miss.

I make it a point to purchase a special gift for my sister. We eagerly await the delicious Christmas cake prepared by our mother, and the celebration culminates in a delightful family dinner. The festive vibe is all-encompassing. New Year celebrations are equally special, marked by invitations to friends’ or relatives’ homes or hosting a party. It’s a time to connect with family, friends, and cousins, enjoying good food and great company.

While we revel in the holiday mood throughout winter vacations, our mother ensures we balance enjoyment with responsibility. She prepares a schedule to make the most of our time—preparing for final exams while having fun.

This is how I savour my winter vacations each year, creating lasting memories.
