Jayati, a final-year graphic design student at Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram, has had an enriching and exciting journey as she prepares to enter the professional world. In this conversation, Jayati shares her experience at ASU, the role of her supportive professors, and her plans as she begins her graphic design career at Zomato. Read edited excerpts:
How is life at ASU?
Life at ASU is pretty exciting! There’s always a lot to learn and do, which keeps me on my toes. Being a day scholar means travel takes up some of my time, but the faculty and the classes motivate me to push through.
What makes the faculty stand out?
The faculty at ASU has been instrumental in shaping my journey. Since day one, they’ve supported me every step of the way. Professors like Swati Ma’am have been my anchor, guiding me through both academic and career decisions.

Any workshops at ASU for the placement?
The training at ASU was very hands-on. We had several practical workshops and were taught interview skills, alongside theory subjects like professional studies. These classes played a big role in preparing me for the industry.
And what hobbies do you pursue on campus?
I’ve joined the theater group and been part of multiple nukkad nataks (street plays). We even performed at a government school recently, and it was an eye-opening experience. We also participated in events at management college fests—it’s been a fun way to explore creative expression beyond graphic design.

How is your Zomato internship going?
I’m currently working as a graphic design intern at Zomato, and I’m focusing on my growth as I gain experience. It’s been a great learning opportunity so far!
Any key skills you’ve developed at Apeejay?
Definitely time management! With so much on my plate, balancing academics, extracurriculars, and internships has been a real lesson in managing time effectively.
