CBSE class 12 Physics paper analysis: Questions were moderately difficult, says teacher

A Physics teacher says some questions required mathematical knowledge and the use of Calculus

Class XII students took the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Physics exam on March 6, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. Ramandeep Kaur, PGT Physics, Apeejay School Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, said it is one of the exams that tend to be “always tricky” since it is concept-based.

Talking about this year’s Physics paper, the teacher said it had a moderate difficulty level. Some numerical questions, however, required good mathematical knowledge and the use of Calculus.

The question paper comprised five sections: 18 MCQs of one mark each in the first, seven questions of two marks each in the second section, five questions of three marks each in the third section, three long questions of five marks each in the fourth section and two case-study based questions of four marks each in the final section.

The paper followed the CBSE pattern and covered all expected questions. “The questions asked were mostly straightforward and there was nothing out of the ordinary except for a few questions,” the Apeejay teacher added. No question was out of the syllabus.

The paper was moderate in terms of length, the teacher said. But she added, “It is possible some students may have found it lengthy.”

The CBSE class XII exam began on February 24 and will end on April 5. The Physics exam will be followed by Mathematics on March 11. Students of Biology, on the other hand, will appear for the exam on March 16.
