Badminton: My all-time favourite sport!

Published

on

Badminton is a sport that brings me joy and keeps me active and healthy. It’s my absolute favourite! Whenever I play, I feel strong and confident. The sound of the racket hitting the shuttlecock with a “whoosh” is music to my ears.

When I’m on the badminton court, I feel like I can do anything. I make precise and careful shots that make me believe I can conquer the world. It’s a beautiful sport that combines elegance with skill and keeps me hooked.

The history of badminton is really interesting. It all started in British-ruled India during the 19th century. There was a game called George Cajoles that people played in Pune. The British officials liked it and brought it to England, where it became popular.

In 1877, the Bath Badminton Club, one of the most successful university badminton clubs in the UK, established the rules of badminton, making it an organised sport. The first big tournament, the Open Badminton Championship, took place in 1899. Since 1992, badminton has been an official Olympic sport. It’s also hugely popular in Asian countries like India, South Korea, Indonesia, and China. They have their own championship called the Asian Championship.

In short, badminton is not just a sport to me—it’s pure joy! It keeps me fit and confident. The history behind it is fascinating, and it’s loved all around the world. I’m grateful to be a part of this amazing sport.
