Who says engineers can’t draw? Kashish Verma is a B Tech student at AIMETC who is also a fabulous artist. Beginning from class 10, art has been her best friend in every season. Selected as this week’s Artist of the week, Verma takes us through her process of art and answers all questions briefly yet accurately.

Since when did you start drawing?
After class 10 to be precise. That was when I began devoting time to this craft.

Which art form is your favourite and why?

I just love sketching. The detailing and realism in this form feels so amazing to see.

How does your college support you as an artist?
In the foundation classes at the college, I got to know about various forms of drawings and it made me inspired to do the same. I owe this journey to my college as well.

How would you define art?
For me, art is the creative spirit that captures us whenever we find time.

How much time does it take you to complete an artwork? What are your common ideas and themes?
It’s a labour intensive process. It takes me approximately 3 hours to finish an artwork. My topics of interest are sketches of landscapes, nature and other figures like eyes, hands etc.

Upcoming artworks?
Nothing as of now. Searching for some new ideas.

A new artform you wish to learn?
I wish to learn portraits. It fascinates me a lot.

Lastly, other hobbies apart from art?
Well, I like listening to stories and listening to music.
