Geeta Rani’s children Natasha and Dilshaan Banger are studying in class 8 and class 3 respectively at Apeejay School, Rama Mandi. In an interview, the mother-of-two says the incredible improvement seen in her children is proof of the school’s relentless efforts to shape young individuals. From online classes to the support of teachers, Geeta, a homemaker, shares her overall experience. Edited excerpts:

What made you choose Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, for Natasha and Dilshaan?

I visited many schools around the time of Natasha’s admission, and Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, turned out to be the ideal choice for us. I had also heard about the school from my acquaintances, who told us that it had good teaching staff. The school has never given us a chance to regret our decision. We have been getting great results. So, we did not have to think twice before enrolling Dilshaan in the same school.

What kind of improvements have you seen in your children?

In the earlier classes, Natasha had difficulty speaking. Over the years, she has improved tremendously, all thanks to the schoolteachers. They instilled so much confidence in her! As far as Dilshaan is concerned, he has been very active in the classes and in other extra-curricular activities like storytelling, elocution, etc, right from the start.

Are your kids able to cope with the online classes?

Natasha has had no difficulties. While I would initially need to sit with my son for his online classes, I soon realised he has learned how to manage the classes. I would like to appreciate the teachers for being so patient and for making great efforts to teach the children even in the virtual mode. They explain every subject in great detail, through various interesting activities. In fact, parents also learn so much through these classes. The teachers engage the students by interacting with them individually and asking them questions, especially those who may have some difficulty in learning.

How supportive are the teachers towards parents?

The teachers are very supportive and dedicated. Apart from sending us the circular, they personally call us on occasions to inform us about the events in school. They always stay connected to us through Moodle and WhatsApp. Even if you call them late in the evening, they never ignore you. The teachers encourage parents and students equally.

Apart from modern learning, are your children also being taught about their tradition and culture?

Yes, the children are taught about various regional and national festivals and how they are celebrated in the country, through school events where they dress up, make crafts, and so on.

The school celebrated its Annual Appreciation Day last month. What was the experience like?

Both Natasha and Dilshaan participated in the event, in a play and a dance performance respectively. They performed really well. The overall event was excellent; the initiative to appreciate students for their hard work is a great way to boost their spirits.
