Apeejay School of Management (ASM) is known for shaping future business leaders with its hands-on learning approach. One of its bright students, Navita Jha, a first-year MBA student, has secured an HR internship at Jagran New Media. In a candid conversation, she shares her experience of the selection process, her learning journey, and how ASM has played a crucial role in building her confidence and professional skills.
Congratulations on your internship! How did the opportunity come your way?
Thank you! The HR team from Jagran New Media visited our campus and reviewed our resumes. We were then invited for interviews at their office. The selection process had four rounds—three were conducted by their HR team, and the final round was taken by the CHRO. The interviews assessed my background, knowledge, and communication skills. I was thrilled when I got selected!
What are your key responsibilities as an HR intern?

I primarily work in talent acquisition. My role involves understanding job requirements, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and learning how to assess candidates’ potential. Since I am a fresher, this internship is helping me build practical skills in recruitment and HR operations.
What has been your biggest learning so far?
So much! I have learned how to communicate professionally, understand different mindsets, and manage recruitment processes. Every interaction teaches me something new, from how to conduct interviews to understanding company expectations from new hires.
How has ASM helped you prepare for this role?
ASM has been instrumental in my journey. Before joining ASM, I lacked confidence and never stepped on stage. But within six months, I have participated in multiple presentations, improved my public speaking skills, and gained the confidence to interact with professionals. My professors and mentors have been incredibly supportive, guiding me at every step and encouraging me to do my best.
How do you feel about the placement opportunities at ASM?
The placement committee has been doing an excellent job. Our batch has around 160 students, and many have secured internships. The support from the college in preparing students for corporate exposure is commendable.
