Apeejay School, Nerul, celebrated Founder’s Day on 5 October 2026 to mark the 107th birth anniversary of its Founder Chairman, Dr. Stya Paul (1919-2010). Students and staff came together for a programme of tributes, performances, and felicitations.

Dr. Stya Paul was an eminent industrialist, philanthropist, and freedom fighter. He overcame childhood adversity, including physical challenges from polio, to build a lasting legacy in industry and education. The school’s motto, ‘Soaring High is My Nature,’ draws on his own words: “It is not a disgrace to start small, but it is a tragedy to remain small.”

The programme opened with an invocation dance, followed by a floral tribute in which staff and students paid homage as his favourite devotional bhajans played. Principal Mr P Subhash then read out the President’s message and urged the gathering to anchor their ambitions in service and moral strength.

Students and staff presented a series of tributes on stage. Pre-Primary students performed a spirited dance. The head boy delivered a speech on the Founder’s ideals, and Vice Principal Mrs Preety Gupta shared reflections on his life and the path that shaped him. Primary students closed the cultural segment with a dance drama that combined music, narration, and choreography to portray Dr. Stya Paul’s pursuit of excellence and his humility.

The felicitation ceremony was a highlight of the day. Scholars of the Apeejay Talent Search Examination (ATSE) were honoured, along with recipients of the Dr. Stya Paul Award for Human Values, which recognises character and moral courage. The head girl proposed the vote of thanks, bringing the commemoration to a close.

Apeejay Education is led today by the Founder’s daughter, Madam Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman of Apeejay Education. The school said his legacy continues to guide the institution’s efforts to nurture students who combine ambition with compassion.

Through the celebration, Apeejay School, Nerul, reaffirmed its commitment to the values Dr. Stya Paul stood for: resilience, integrity, and selflessness. The school said these values remain central to its work as it prepares students to reach for the stars while staying grounded in service to others.
