What led you to choose the BD Fashion and Textile Course at Apeejay College of Fine Arts?

Certainly! I’ve been deeply intrigued by the world of fashion and textiles from a young age. After witnessing inspiring fashion shows at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, I knew it was the perfect place for me to pursue my dream of becoming a fashion designer. The institute’s reputation and comprehensive curriculum convinced me that I would receive quality education and practical experience in the field.

What are your specific interests within the field of fashion and textile design, and what draws you to these particular aspects?

My specific interests lie in textiles and fashion illustration. Textiles have always captivated me because of their intricate patterns, textures, and the limitless possibilities for creativity they offer. Learning about various textile techniques and experimenting with different fabrics excite me immensely. Fashion illustration, on the other hand, allows me to bring designs to life on paper and serve as a visual representation of my vision. It’s a unique and artistic way for me to express my ideas and creativity.

How did the Bachelor of Design Course contribute to your career prospects?

The course has been a transformative experience so far, and I believe it will significantly impact my future career prospects. My primary aspiration is to become a successful fashion designer and establish my own label someday. The programme has contributed to my career prospects by equipping me with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the fashion industry. Through practical projects, internships, and participation in events like Lavanya, I gained valuable hands-on experience and built a strong portfolio.

In your opinion, what are some of the essential qualities for achieving success in fashion and textile design?

I believe that consistency, patience, and a unique perspective are essential qualities for achieving success in fashion and textile design. Consistency is crucial because it helps in refining one’s craft. During my course of study, I practiced by taking up various design projects and seeking feedback from professors to improve my skills. Patience is also essential in this field because the creative process can be challenging and time-consuming. A unique perspective is what sets a designer apart from others, allowing them to bring fresh ideas and designs to the industry.

How do you stay informed about the latest fashion trends and industry developments?

Staying informed about the latest fashion trends and industry developments is crucial for me as a designer. To achieve this, I utilise a variety of resources and platforms. Social media, particularly Instagram, is a significant part of my daily routine. I follow prominent designers, fashion brands, and influencers to gain insights into the latest trends, collections, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of the fashion world. Additionally, Pinterest serves as a treasure trove of visual inspiration, where I create mood boards, explore different styles, and gather ideas for my designs.
