Dashmeet Kaur Khanuja is a final semester student at the School of Management Sciences, Apeejay Stya University (ASU). She is pursuing a BBA in Financial Markets and is currently an intern at the proprietary firm, Dashmesh Financial Services Pvt Ltd. In a quick interview, the Apeejay student mentions how pursuing the course at ASU helped her unravel so much about the financial market domain. Read edited excerpts:

How has your internship been coming along?

Very nice! My work involves opening Demat Account and stock analysis. I am learning new things everyday.

How has ASU helped you in this regard?

Before joining my course at ASU, I did not have much idea about the financial markets. I did have an interest in the stock market though. And so, owing to that interest, I used to often check the National Stock Exchange website. From there I got to know that ASU was offering this course on finance. It has been a great journey as I got a lot of knowledge about financial terms and financial markets.

 Best memories from ASU campus?

So many! I was a hosteller so I have a lot of memories. Friday and Saturday were the best. We also organised many events like Dussehra and Diwali on campus. The college also conducted Dandiya dance events during Navratri. And undoubtedly, the college fest was one of the best memorable experiences.

What are your future plans?

I want to become a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst). For that, I will have to get my passport ready, then pursue coaching, and appear for level-one exam. There are three levels before getting a chartered holder degree certification. One also needs 3 years of work experience as an analyst.

One tip for future students?

Don’t solely focus on marks, instead build a strong foundation. Clear all your doubts and concepts. It will help later, trust me.  Our course is practical, so it needs hands-on experience. Try to implement the knowledge learned such as paper trading in the stock market. Implement the strategies you learn in the book.
