Poetry is as much about expression as it is about words. Bringing this aspect of literary learning into focus, Apeejay School, Sector 15, Faridabad, organised an Inter-house Poetry Recitation Competition for students of Classes VI to VIII.
The competition provided young participants with an opportunity to showcase their recitation skills, voice modulation and clarity of diction. Students demonstrated their understanding and appreciation of poetry through expressive performances that captured the attention of the audience.
The event also highlighted how poetry recitation allows students to communicate thoughts and emotions through the spoken word. The ability to deliver a poem with clarity, confidence and appropriate expression was central to the competition.

Recognising young talent
Students from different houses earned recognition for their performances across the three classes.
In Class VI, the winners were Aryaman Gupta from Gautam House, Mokshit Sikka and Sattvik Pundir from Nanak House, Himakshi Varshney from Kabir House and Sanvi from Vivekanand House.
The Class VII winners included Vedant Bagga from Gautam House, Lavanya Pahal from Kabir House and Saish Arora from Vivekanand House.
In Class VIII, Aadya Virmani from Nanak House, Mahi Singh and Parth Mahatha from Gautam House, Vihan Singh from Vivekanand House and Gurender from Gautam House were recognised for their recitation skills.

Building confidence through poetry
Beyond recognising individual performances, the competition brought attention to the role of poetry in developing communication and presentation skills. Reciting a poem requires students to understand its meaning and convey it through their voice, pronunciation and expression.
Such activities encourage students to develop confidence in speaking before an audience while strengthening their appreciation of language and literature.

The competition concluded with congratulations to all the winners, celebrating their efforts and the importance of giving young learners opportunities to express themselves through poetry.
