Vrishti Tyagi, a recent PGDM in Mass Communication graduate from Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC), describes her journey as a blend of learning, exploration, and memorable experiences. From classroom learning to live projects, workshops, industry interactions, and practical assignments, AIMC provided her with both theoretical knowledge and valuable industry exposure. Her dedication and consistent preparation helped her secure a placement as a Management Trainee at Hakuhodo India, one of the leading advertising agencies. In this interview, Vrishti shares how AIMC shaped her professional journey, the role of faculty support during placements, and her aspirations in advertising and brand management. Read edited excerpts:

How do you feel receiving the placement offer? What position have you been offered?

I feel extremely happy and grateful to have received my placement offer. It feels rewarding because it reflects all the hard work and dedication I put in during my academic journey.

I have joined Hakuhodo India as a Management Trainee, and I am really excited to begin my career with one of the leading advertising agencies. I believe this opportunity will help me learn, grow, and work on impactful brands and campaigns.

How did you prepare for your placements?

I prepared for my placements by staying updated with the latest industry trends and continuously improving my knowledge.

I regularly followed platforms like Exchange4Media (e4m) and afaqs! to understand what’s happening in the advertising and media industry. Along with that, our faculty members guided us on interview preparation, industry expectations, and current market trends. Their guidance helped me build confidence and prepare effectively for the placement process.

How did your teachers at Apeejay help you during the placement process?

Our teachers supported us throughout the entire placement journey. There were times when I felt anxious and impatient while waiting for opportunities, but my faculty members always motivated me and reminded me to stay confident. They believed in my potential even when I doubted myself. Their constant encouragement, guidance, and support gave me the confidence to keep improving until I secured my placement.

What are your tips to crack a job interview?

My biggest advice would be confidence backed by knowledge. Read as much as you can, stay updated with your industry, and try to become really strong in at least one area. Once you have that knowledge, communicate it confidently. Interviewers appreciate honesty, clarity, and confidence more than memorised answers. So, believe in yourself and let your personality reflect during the interview.

 What are your future aspirations?

My aspiration is to build a successful career in advertising and brand management. I want to work on some of the biggest brands and contribute to campaigns that create a real impact on people. Eventually, I aspire to become someone who is involved in shaping brand strategies and bringing innovative campaign ideas to life.
