The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced an extension of the registration deadline for the UGC NET June 2026 examination, offering candidates additional time to complete their applications. Eligible aspirants can now submit their forms until May 23, 2026, through the official UGC NET portal.

The extension is expected to benefit students who were unable to complete the registration process earlier due to various reasons. Candidates seeking eligibility for academic and research opportunities are advised to make use of the revised timeline and avoid waiting until the final day to apply.

Alongside the deadline extension, the NTA has also released details regarding the application correction window, which will remain active from May 25 to May 27, 2026. During this period, registered candidates will be allowed to review and modify specific details in their submitted application forms, if required.

The University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is conducted to determine candidates’ eligibility for multiple academic positions and higher education opportunities across the country. The examination serves as a qualifying gateway for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment as an Assistant Professor, and admission to PhD programmes offered by universities and higher educational institutions in India.

The examination is regarded as one of the most significant national-level eligibility tests for postgraduate candidates aspiring to build careers in teaching and research. Thousands of candidates appear for the examination each year to secure opportunities in academia and research-oriented fields.

Candidates have been advised to carefully complete the registration process and ensure that all information entered in the application form is accurate. Particular attention should be paid to personal details, educational qualifications, examination subjects, and category information to avoid discrepancies at later stages.

The correction facility will provide applicants with an opportunity to rectify errors before the final submission is processed. However, candidates are encouraged to thoroughly review all information while filling out the form itself to minimise mistakes.

Aspirants are advised to regularly visit the official website for updates and complete the application process well before the revised deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues.
