At Apeejay Svran Global School, Sector 21-D, Faridabad, education is designed to be engaging, joyful, and impactful. Recently, Grade III students participated in an interactive Math Lab activity titled “Don’t Touch the Color We Say!” a delightful exercise that turned learning into an energetic game.
The Rules of the Game
In this activity, a colour would be called out by the teacher – say, “yellow” and students had to ensure they didn’t touch that colour. They could touch any other colour, but not the one mentioned. While this may sound simple, the game challenged students to stay alert, think quickly, and make decisions under pressure all while having fun.
The activity was carefully designed to nurture multiple cognitive and behavioural skills in students. These included:
Active Listening: Students had to pay close attention to the instructions to play correctly.
Colour Recognition: Quick identification of colours played a central role.
Focus and Self-Control: Learners practiced staying calm and mindful during the fast-paced activity.
Quick Thinking: The game encouraged fast decision-making and improved reflexes.

Encouraging Holistic Development
At the primary level, activities that integrate movement, thought, and fun significantly improve learning outcomes. By incorporating such exercises into daily classroom routines, the school ensures that students are developing not only academically but also socially and emotionally. The Math Lab session was a prime example of this philosophy in action.
The classroom was filled with laughter, cheerful voices, and focused participation. Students thoroughly enjoyed the break from routine learning, and teachers observed a marked improvement in attentiveness, engagement, and overall class spirit.
By using innovative and child-friendly approaches, Apeejay Svran Global School continues to equip its young learners with essential 21st-century skills ranging from critical thinking to emotional intelligence. The Math Lab activity served as a reminder that meaningful education can happen when learning is playful, participatory, and purposeful.
