Not all heroes wear capes — some carry books, and others write them. Arnesh Tiwari, a Class 6 student from Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, Jalandhar, is one such eco-warrior in the making. His debut book, Echoes of Nature Change, published by Bri Books, is a call to action, gently teaching readers how to reduce waste, plant trees, and care for the Earth. In this delightful and sincere interview, Arnesh shares his writing journey, his environmental inspiration, and the reason why nature means everything to him. Read edited excerpts:
Arnesh, what is your book Echoes of Nature Change about?
My book is all about climate change — how it’s affecting the world and how we can stop it. I’ve written eight chapters, and each one gives a lesson on saving the environment, like turning off lights when not in use, unplugging devices, planting trees, and reducing waste by using reusable items. It’s like a guidebook for small actions that make a big difference.
That’s amazing! Is there a central character in the book?
No, it’s not a story with one hero or character. Each chapter talks about a different way to help the Earth. So the focus is more on actions and learning, not one person.
How did your school help you in this journey?
Our school encouraged us by sharing the link to participate, and at first, I thought it would be hard. But then my parents and teachers supported me a lot — they believed in me and told me I was good at building things. That gave me the confidence to try writing this book.

How much time did it take you to write the book?
The research part took about a month. I studied and collected a lot of information. After that, I summarised it all and created the eight chapters in a day. So yes, it was a lot of hard work!
What was your friends’ reaction when they saw your published book?
They were shocked and super excited! They told me my English is really good — so good that I sound British! (laughs) They were proud and very curious about how I did it.
What are you planning to write next?
I want to write another book about nature. I’m still researching it. I love writing about the environment because I feel nature gives us so much, and we are not giving back. I’ve seen pollution — people throwing garbage into rivers and nature — and that makes me feel really sad. That’s why I write… to protect what we still have.
