Education at Apeejay School, Faridabad, Sector 15, goes beyond textbooks. The school believes in laying a strong foundation for holistic development, especially in the formative years. A recent initiative by the Pre-primary Wing demonstrated this commitment through an insightful workshop on Good Habits and Personal Hygiene, conducted by Ms Seema Singh, a dedicated faculty member.

The workshop was designed with the young learners in mind. It focused on instilling essential habits that are the building blocks of a healthy and responsible life. With lively discussions, engaging activities, and thoughtful demonstrations, the session made sure every little participant walked away with more than just knowledge — it sparked a change in attitude.

Empowering young minds with the right habits

Children, especially at the pre-primary level, are highly impressionable. Recognising this, Ms Singh created a nurturing and interactive environment to teach the basics of personal hygiene, like brushing teeth twice a day, taking regular baths, washing hands before meals, and keeping their surroundings clean.

Through fun stories and role-plays, students were encouraged to explore the ‘why’ behind these habits. The workshop didn’t just tell them what to do — it showed them how and why these practices matter. It helped the children develop a sense of responsibility toward themselves and others, making them more mindful and self-aware.

The session also underlined the importance of a clean environment. Children learnt about keeping their classrooms tidy, using dustbins, and not littering public spaces. These lessons, though simple, were imparted in a way that left a lasting impression.

By involving students in small demonstrations — like how to properly wash hands or fold a handkerchief — Ms Singh ensured that the learning was hands-on and memorable. It helped reinforce the idea that even small actions, when done daily, lead to big changes.

A step towards lifelong self-care

The workshop, in essence, planted the seeds for lifelong habits. It was not just about one day of learning, but about helping children develop routines that will stay with them as they grow. It also instilled confidence and self-esteem, as the little ones began to understand the power of self-care.

In today’s fast-paced world, where hygiene and good habits are essential for well-being, such workshops play a crucial role. Apeejay School, Faridabad, through this initiative, has once again shown that learning begins with the basics — and that even the youngest students can be empowered to lead healthy, mindful lives.
