Sana Kakar is an art prodigy in Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar. She loves art and making lovely pine cone paintings is her talent to watch out for. Selected as this week’s Aspiring Artist, Sana explains what art means to her and how she gets the biggest support from her mother and the school. Read edited excerpts:

Since when have you been drawing Sana?
I started last year to be precise. I was 11 years old then.
And what inspired you to draw?
My mother Ms Jyotsna Kakar is my greatest inspiration. She saw my skill and motivated me to give wings to it.
So, what is your favourite type of drawing?
Painting! Pine cone paintings or mandala art are my most treasured art forms. Painting involves so many colours, brightness, mixing of different textures and hues. It is a delight!
And how much time does it take you to make a painting?
Half a day or one day at maximum. I don’t even realise how time goes by as I enter the world of colours.
Your favourite themes to paint on?
I love to make paintings on Indian festivals. It is more colourful and joyous then.
How is your school motivating you?
