‘Shattered hopes’: Poem by Aakifah Khan, Apeejay School, Nerul

Listen to the poem here:

My palms have turned pale,
My body has gone numb,
My heart has died,
Little did I know, it was my expectations who lied.

I can feel the gushing of blood through my veins,
Thunders crashing and tears rolling down camouflage the rains
My brain desperate to escape to my sweet dreams,
My heart comforts, it was me who was at fault.

The world has fallen apart, where my hopes,
Have shattered down into shards,
I have wailed more than the clouds have ever rained,
I feel sad evermore.

Well, now that I am forced to accept my fate,
It has made me fall on my knees.
Surely, the day will come soon enough,
When I will rise again with great belief.
