Google is rolling out enhanced AI features through its Circle to Search functionality, primarily catering to select Android smartphone users. This innovative tool, which allows users to circle over images, text, or products to initiate a search, now extends its capabilities to include real-time translation of PDF files and menus with a simple tap.

Initially available on compatible devices like Pixel phones and select models from the Samsung Galaxy S23 and S24 series, including the S Pen-equipped Galaxy S24 Ultra, Circle to Search offers a seamless user experience. To access this feature, users can long-press the home button to reveal the Google Search bar, where they’ll find icons for various functions including Translate.

By tapping the Translate button, users can select their language preferences, with Google automatically detecting the original language in the text. Alternatively, users can manually choose the desired language from a vast array of options. The translated text is then displayed on the screen, making it convenient for travelers grappling with foreign language menus.

Moreover, Circle to Search isn’t just limited to translation; it also allows users to highlight and copy text to the clipboard, adding to its versatility. However, while Google continues to expand the capabilities of this feature, its accessibility remains confined to a limited set of devices.

Samsung has hinted at broader availability, suggesting that Circle to Search may reach other Android devices after October 5, 2024, possibly coinciding with the release of the Google Pixel 9 series.

The potential of Circle to Search lies in its ability to simplify everyday tasks, from deciphering foreign language texts to extracting relevant information effortlessly. As Google and its partners work to extend its reach, this AI-powered tool holds promise for a wider audience seeking seamless integration of technology into their daily lives.
