The Interact Club of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, recently hosted an event on the theme of ‘Water Conservation Day,’ wherein students of classes 3 to 11 participated with great fervour and dedication.

Raising awareness on water conservation, the club organised a few activities like essay writing, painting and poster making competitions. Students enthused their vibrant ideas and creativity and contributed wholeheartedly to these activities.

The interactive and cultural event began with the formal green welcome of the esteemed Rotarians including Ashok Kantoor, District Governor Rtn; Rajeev Gujral, Rtn; K.S. Mehta, Rtn and other dignitaries by Mr. N.N Nayyar, Senior Education Officer at Apeejay Education and Mr. Sandeep Singh Kathuria, Principal, Apeejay School. The programme was conducted in two phases. In the first half, Water Management & Plumbing Skill Council with the Project Lead Club: Rotary Club of Delhi, Cama Place interacted with the students on the pressing need for water conservation.

Further, the team showed a few videos on water scarcity and distributed aerators on the same. They also urged the students to take an oath and be water warriors to take the noble cause forward.

In the other half, the Interactors engaged in various cultural activities to disseminate the need for conserving water. The students of the Hindi choir with their soulful rendition immortalised the beauty of water, an elixir of life.

This was followed by a Nukkad Natak, which gave an insight into the misconception of people about water and how they undermine its worth. An informative and enlightening chat show was organised by the Interactors, who represented different sectors of society. They discussed the new strategies that can be implemented for resolving this persistent menace of water scarcity.

At the end, Rotarians appreciated students for their performance and creative work.

Moumita Mallik Sen, Interact Club Teacher Incharge said, “Water is an elixir that sustains and nourishes all living beings. It is imperative that we make our young students comprehend and appreciate the importance of water. We should take it as our responsibility and work in a union to avoid water wastage. I urge all my students to be water warriors and preserve this precious gift of nature.”
