In the corridors of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park in Delhi, a 17-year-old luminary, Navya Singh, stands as a testament to youthful creativity and tenacity. Having called Apeejay her second home for over a decade, her academic excellence is only surpassed by her prowess in the realm of poetry.

Born to Prabha, a dedicated homemaker, and Shashi, a distinguished Engineer, Navya’s artistic voyage has been buoyed by unwavering familial support. While she aspires to a career in law, her interests extend well beyond the courtroom. Dance, Model United Nations conferences at the school-level, and the art of articulating through verse are her realms of passion.

Navya’s foray into the world of words was an unexpected turn of events. At a tender age, she achieved perfect scores in an English writing assignment, a triumph she eagerly shared with her aunt. It was her aunt’s encouragement that ignited the spark, setting Navya on a path of self-discovery through writing. Reflecting on those nascent days, she shares, “It all began from there. I was about 11 or 12 when I took writing seriously. Eventually, it got better.”

This newfound ardour for writing was nurtured by an insatiable appetite for literature. She delved into the works of esteemed authors and poets, enriching her grasp of the art form. This exploration became the fertile soil for her own creative endeavours. Navya says, “I have read many poems and that inspired me to start my own.”

Her debut poetry compilation, “Pages of Echoes: Unheard Poetic Whispers,” stands as a testament to her talent and dedication. The anthology encompasses freestyle poems, a diverse tapestry of themes encompassing love, childhood reminiscences, and forays into the depths of darkness and tacit truths. Each verse is an odyssey into the human experience, offering readers a window into Navya’s insightful and empathetic soul.

With this milestone secured, one cannot help but wonder about her forthcoming projects. “Yes, I hope to write another one,” Navya confides. “I am still deliberating on what form it will take – a narrative, a novel, or a collection of poems.” This uncertainty reveals the boundless potential and versatility that resides within this young wordsmith.

For those aspiring to navigate the waters of poetry, Navya imparts invaluable counsel, “Ensure both an active and passive voice permeate the poem. The diction should be unpretentious. Keep refining your lexicon.” Her counsel echoes the essence of her craft – simplicity, profundity, and an unwavering commitment to her art.

Throughout this odyssey, Navya recognises the pivotal role played by her English teacher, Ritu ma’am. Her mentorship and constructive feedback proved instrumental in refining her skills. “Ma’am’s feedback was indispensable for my work,” Navya asserts, underscoring the profound influence a mentor can wield on burgeoning talent.

In the mosaic of young, promising writers, Navya shines as a luminary in her own right. Her compendium of poems not only showcases her literary finesse but also hints at the vast potential that lies ahead. As she contemplates her next endeavour, we can only anticipate with bated breath the literary jewels she is poised to offer the world. Her journey is a testament to the power of passion, support, and the written word.
