Apeejay Stya University’s School of Biosciences (SBS) won an award for “Excellence in Industry-Academia Interface” at the 3rd Eduleaders Summit 2022 held this month. The summit was organised by Universal Mentors Association at Hotel Eros, Delhi, and was powered by Brainwonders.
The summit witnessed a gathering of educationists, thought leaders, government representatives, and changemakers from both schools and higher education institutes to discuss the latest trends in the education sector. More than 50 top education institutions were recognised and honoured at the event for their exceptional achievements.
SBS was awarded for effective and consistent collaborations with business corporations for the achievement of mutually inclusive goals and objectives. “This award is a recognition of the sustained partnership between academia and industry initiated by School of Biosciences at Apeejay Stya University which has driven a culture of research and training excellence, and created a flow of skilled personnel to enhance capabilities within the growing Biotechnology sector,” said Dr Vyas M Shingatgeri, dean, SBS. “I am grateful that our efforts are being recognised by the Biotechnology industry. I would like to thank the organisers for this honour and reiterate our commitment to further deepen the industry-academia alliance.”
SBS brings together leading scientists of the country and eminent industrialists based in bio-businesses on the same platform to jointly generate quality manpower with skill sets to match the requirements of the industry. The department has tied up with major biosciences companies including Walter Bushnell and ASG Biochem, Vanta Bioscience, Path Kind Diagnostics, and more. It has further signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Thomas Jefferson University in the US. The students are also offered relevant internship opportunities where they learn a lot.
