Meet this amazing Aspiring Artist from Apeejay School, Tanda Road, Jalandhar

Sidak Bawa is a class 8 student at Apeejay School, Tanda Road, Jalandhar. She is a fabulous artist who is now on the lookout to learn sculpture art in this new year. Selected as this week’s Apeejay Aspiring Artist, let us read what the young painter has to say about herself and her ‘kala’. Read edited excerpts:

Since when did you start drawing?

It has been four years since I have been doing art passionately. I started my artwork from class 4 and I have loved every single second spent on it.

Which art form do you love the most and why?

I usually love to make artwork that includes Gods. I love making mythological and spiritual figures. It makes me feel content.

And how does your school support you as an artist?

My school gives us students a great platform with lots of activities. In these activities, we can freely illustrate our potential.

Now tell us what is art for you?

We can express our skills and imagination through our art. It is a great platform. A great medium to tell the world who you are!

How much time does it take you to complete 1 artwork? What are your common ideas and themes?

It probably takes me around 2-3 hours to complete an artwork. I am currently working on a mandala artwork of a butterfly and another artwork of Shree Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

Any upcoming artwork?

A mandala artwork of the national bird: peacock.

One new artform you wish to learn in 2024?

Sculpture art. It has fascinated me since ages. I really want to learn it!

And finally, your hobbies apart from art?

My hobbies apart from art include sports. I was very active as a child and love playing sports and learning on the ground. I feel that is a great education.
