India is widely known for its cultural diversity and unique educational landscape. With this, there are numerous options where parents are seeking quality education for their children to grow and inculcate life skills. Hence, parents research on the Internet and look for recommendations from family and friends before they make a final decision. For most parents, a school that provides holistic development is the right choice.

Apeejay School is one such renowned school that offers quality education along with room for extracurricular activities summing up a holistic education. Therefore, for parents like Ratika Dutta, a mother of Avyan Dutta and Tiara Dutta, studying in Class IV and II respectively, at Apeejay School, Pitampura, choosing this school became easy.

In a candid interview, the mother talks about how the hard work of teachers has paved the way for success for her kids.

What made you choose this school for your kids?

My husband is from North Delhi. It was his dream to study at a prestigious school such as Apeejay. Unfortunately, he could not seek admission due to some unforeseen circumstances. After we got married and had our first child, we decided to enroll our son here. When our daughter was born, we again chose this school. It is a dream come true for their father.

Are your children involved in any extracurricular activities?

Both my kids remain highly engaged in extracurricular activities. Tiara is passionate about tennis, while Avyan has been devoted to basketball for the past three years. Moreover, my daughter is learning vocal music, while my son is a drummer in the school band.

Changes in your children ever since they joined this school.

The school has surely been active in delivering some great human and moral values to both of them. It is difficult to pick a few changes since there have been several over the years. But they are keeping up with their academics as well as sports.

How do you encourage your kids to study at home?

I don’t see a point in encouraging them since my kids are proactive when it comes to learning and studying. The teachers at school are doing a great job. I just help them complete their homework on time and be there whenever they need it. Collectively, the teachers and I are doing good work.

Are PTMs held regularly?

Yes. And I never miss a chance to attend them. Mostly I receive positive responses for both my children from the teachers. However, I still attend every meeting to monitor the growth of my children, quite closely.

How do you spend quality time with your children?

I am a dedicated homemaker, and my husband usually travels on business trips. From morning school preparations to evening extracurricular pickups, I do everything. To ensure my kids always feel my presence, I include heartfelt notes in their lunchboxes, reminding them of my constant support and love during their daily meals.

What is the teaching methodology here?

Apeejay fosters learning through a practical approach which is one of the greatest strategies enabling students to develop good study habits.

Define your parenting mantra. I don’t rely on reading parenting books to keep up with my child. I just make them understand that be it studies, play, or about your career, you write your destiny. The universe is the only truth of life. Be prepared for any hurdle that you may come across. You are your best judge on how to overcome them.
