Much like home, a school also provides a nurturing environment, a sense of belonging, and crucial life lessons that contribute significantly to a child’s holistic development, expresses Dr Arvind Garg whose son Hemang Garg studies in class V at Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri.

 Excerpts from the interview

Has Apeejay risen to your expectations so far?

Since this city is my native place we were looking for a school within the city premises, and Apeejay seemed perfect for my children. It was an ideal choice for us because it was close to our home and had a great reputation. So far there are no complaints and my kid is doing well at this school.

How are the teachers here?

Teachers at Apeejay are professionally sound and know how to handle children well. They focus on all areas of my son, understand and praise him for his strong areas, and work extra on his weak areas by constantly motivating my son. Even as parents, we are completely satisfied with the teachers. I attend regular PTMs and have always received good feedback from my child.

How is the balance between extracurricular activities and studies here?

It is good and very satisfying. Hemang particularly enjoys poem recitation, theatre, and other sports and dance activities that are organised regularly at the school. Studies wise he enjoys everything right now.

Describe your parenting style.

My wife usually interacts with my son more than me and I receive feedback about my son from her. If the feedback is good then it’s all ok but if she points out certain problems then we together as parents look into the matter and find a proper resolution for the issue.

How has Apeejay influenced your son positively?

Yes, there is a streak of progress in my son’s personality and growth. He has inculcated good values and habits like helping others and respecting the elderly. Since we stay in a small town, people are generally very loud all around but I have noticed that he maintains softness in his voice when he interacts with others.

How much do you identify with the adage – that school is the second home for a child?

I agree with this totally, in my view school is the first home for a child of three to five years of age. The school extends the best learning experience for a child from the very beginning and holds significant importance in building up a child’s character and personality.
