Students’ talent light up ‘SPARK 2022’ 

Around 1000 students from 35 different colleges across Punjab showcased their communication, managerial and technical skills in this inter-college competition held at the AIMETC campus

The Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar recently organised an inter-college event ‘APEEJAY SPARK 2022’. Around 1000 students from 35 different colleges across Punjab exhibited their communication, managerial and technical skills in fine arts, literary and IT competitions held during the event.

Invoking the blessings of God by lighting the ceremonial lamp, the one-day event began with a soulful rendition of Krishan Vandana.  Mr. Virender Sharma, Director at Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSM) and Mr. Kundan Lal, Assistant Director at MSME graced the occasion with their presence. 

Welcoming the guests, participants and faculty members, Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC said,  “ApeejaySpark is held every year to provide young students an opportunity to showcase their innate talent and skills. Such events are organised not only to provide a platform or to foster a sense of healthy competition among students but also to appreciate young talent and bring to students the level of excellence in various areas.” 

Further, the students were also acquainted with the academic, co-curricular, and various laurels brought by them along with the research endeavours made by the faculty members.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students in all the competitions. As many as 22 different competitions which included Ad Mad Show, Debate, Business Plan, Net Savvy, LAN Gaming, Logic Testing, Moving It Around the Slides, On the Spot Painting, Debugging, Street Play, Folk Dance, Poster Making competitions and more were held on campus. 

Events like Nukkad Natak (street play) that depicted sensitive social issues such as ‘Deteriorating Moral Values in Youth’ and ‘Girl Education’ were highly appreciated by the judges. Showcasing of managerial and analytical skills were highlighted through events like Ad-Mad Show and Business Plan. 

The Business Plan competition was conducted in collaboration with StartupPunjab. Students participated with full zeal and enthusiasm and their extensive research on the subject was evident from the way they answered all the questions.

Sharing her experience, Tanima Chauhan from AIMETC, who was also one of the coordinators at the event said, “It was a brilliant experience to organise such a large-scale event. This helped me to learn creative solutions for preparing these kinds of events. We got a chance to interact with students from different colleges and discuss various business plans. The business plans ideas were so out-of-the-box and we had a great time.” 

Added Hirdayjeet, another student, “I totally enjoyed the aura of the college; the teachers and Apeejay students were so welcoming. After a long time I have participated in such a big competition and the energy among all the students was just unbelievable. I participated in Ad Mad and Treasure Hunt. In Ad Mad, I had conceptualised an ad for a marriage bureau. It was a unique experience to learn from your competitors. These competitions allow you to discover brilliant ideas. I totally enjoyed it.”   

The fest ended with scintillating group dance performances, followed by the prize distribution ceremony. The overall trophy was bagged by Apeejay College of Fine Arts as it scored the maximum points while other colleges also performed well in all  the events. 

In the end, Dr. Pooja Bhandari, Faculty at AIMETC and Coordinator of APEEJAY SPARK 2022′, extended the Vote of Thanks.
