Tell us about your recent achievements in skating.

I recently participated in four skating competitions. The first was the Inter-School Skating Competition at Birla Vidya Niketan, where I won a Gold medal representing my school. Next was the Delhi State RSFI competition at GR International School in Bawana. I competed in three races (500m, 300m, and 1 Lap Road Race), finishing fourth in the finals of the 300m race out of over 25 skaters.

In the third competition, the Inter-School Skating Competition at Blue Bells, under the guidance of a mentor, I won another Gold medal in the 500m race. Finally, I took part in the CBSE Central Zone Skating Tournament at GR International School, Bawana, where I won a Bronze medal in the 300m time trial race and secured fourth place in the 1000m race.

How did you pick this sport up?

I started skating during the COVID-19 period at home. After the pandemic, I began learning the basics at Siri Fort and later continued my training under the guidance of my mentors.

What’s the most challenging part of skating?

The most challenging part of skating is mastering the technique of fast skating, which involves bending the back and coordinating hand movements, as these are crucial for increasing speed. However, I find it difficult because it strains my back. I’m at present, working on improving this during my training sessions.

What’s your training regime?

I attend skating classes five days a week, mostly training near Rashtrapati Bhawan from 5 to 6 am, and occasionally at the Blue Bells School academy in the evening. On Saturdays, I also have a fitness class.

How did Apeejay support your sports journey?

I also learn skating at school, where we have two skating periods each week. My mentor is my coach during these sessions.

Who is your favourite skater and why?

My favourite skater is Srihan Bhaiya; he helps me understand techniques to improve my balance and speed.

Would you like to pursue this sport professionally?

I want to pursue skating professionally because I love the sport.
