Ah! Exams are in the air. We all can smell the confusion, panic, and every other emotion mixed with a hint of fear. Exams can leave the best of us feeling stressed out. No matter how much you have prepared, the night before the exam is always spent in anxiety. You just need someone to hold you by the shoulder, shake you and tell you that it’s all going to be okay.I think the environment at home is also quite different during exams. After every exam, each
and every member of the house asks you the same question-“how was your paper?” and the question paper goes for scrutiny in your mother’s hands followed by a series of questions coming up to you.
Exam stress is a feeling of tension that comes from test taking situations. It is normal to feel some stress as it can stimulate you to work harder.but it becomes problematic when it
interferes with your ability to perform.
Early morning on the day of exam,I go to the washroom twice and when I see the clock
running,I guess I feel the need to go again. That is the stress I feel on Exam day. There can be
other symptoms like nausea, sweating, nail biting and most common going blank out of
stress. Moreover our negative thoughts keep increasing the stress level. All this exam stress
can be due to pressure to perform well or fear of failure for some students, lack of
preparation or lack of study time etc.Sometimes even after focusing for an hour I just can’t
prepare a topic. My mother tells me to close the book and play with my sister for sometime.I
just don’t understand why she says this but after playing I feel relaxed and the same topic
gets done in 15 minutes. So it’s important to relax and take short breaks while studying.

Eat well and take proper sleep and if you don’t want to panic at the last moment, prepare in
advance.Still if you feel stressed talk about it to your mother or anyone close who can de
stress you.I always tell my mother” I wish there were no exams”And she tells me” Even after
you finish all your studies, life still takes tests and by giving these exams at least you won’t
be scared to face them”.
So my dear friends, think like a proton-always positive. Don’t watch the clock…..do what it
does and learn to relax. Dont compare yourself with friends who seem better prepared.you never know what magic you can churn at the finishing line.Keep working hard as there is no elevator to success. You have to use the stairs, one step at a time.
