Student at Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus in Jalandhar Neha Vasudeva believes, “Gratitude is the most powerful weapon of all the feelings. It can show love and respect to anyone regardless of their age and occupation and can enlighten the hearts of both the receiver and the giver. Today the world needs kind and empathetic hearts and gratitude creates one.” And therefore, the MBA student recently penned down an article on ‘The attitude of gratitude’, in which she highlights how gratitude is the act of pausing to notice and appreciate the things that one often takes for granted.

In addition to writing, Neha has a keen interest in exploring the world of finance and accounting. Whenever she gets some time, the budding finance professional loves to spend that moment in solitude feeding her brain with some knowledge about life and things that aid to life like food, clothes and plants. She also listens to music and reads about famous personalities. Read her interview in which she explains how one can practice gratitude every day.

When did you realise the importance of gratitude?  What is gratitude for you?

I realised the importance of gratitude at a very young age. When I was 16 or 17 years old, my mother made me realise it in a very positive way and since then I’ve been watering this thought continuously.

What inspired you to write this article?

I have seen that there are a lot of people around me, especially the younger generation that have no link to the spiritual world and no place for thankfulness and gratitude even to their parents. That really hurts me. I thought of writing this article so that it can create a bit of difference in the thought process of today’s generation.

Do you think being thankful helps in improving mental health and enhances peace?

Yes, of course, who would deny this fact that they do not like being respected and being thanked. Gratitude is a positive feeling and when given radiates positivity. When received, it creates happiness for both. So either way, it is creating peace and improving mental health.

What kind of books do you like to read? Who is your favourite author?

I read a variety of books including thriller, suspense, fictional, biographies and spiritual. Some of my favourite authors are Nicholas Sparks, Rudyard Kipling, Hector Garcia and Vikram Seth. I also love to read Hindi poems by Piyush Mishra.

What is your next article on?

My next article would be on ‘women and the societal pressures that they face’. I know it’s a topic well talked about, but I still wish to add something valuable to the same.
