Harshita DasStudent of Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC) Vivek Joshi is a passionate reader and writer. He has his own blog page ‘Vivek Talks’ through which he loves to express his views on various topics. However, as a teenager, Vivek had never thought of being into journalism. But his conviction changed when he started exploring this field and found out that it is an ocean where numerous opportunities are available and he can fit in well here.
The next step was to overcome a big hurdle and convince his family before even starting to pursue journalism as a career. Coming from a small town Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand, dreaming of pursuing a career in the field of journalism is like a cassel in the sky. But Vivel successfully convinced his family and today he is an enthusiastic student of AIMC in Delhi.
Read edited excerpts of his interview in which he explains about his writing journey:
Why did you pick this topic ‘The key to unstoppable success’. What according to you is the key to unstoppable success?
I was exploring the world of entrepreneurship, and I used to read the biographies of the world’s greatest entrepreneurs. So,I came across some of the interesting stories that inspired me a lot and I thought this is something everyone else should also be aware of. According to me, learning is an ongoing process, but only learning doesn’t work. Learning something new everyday and implementing it on ourselves is something which works. I believe that just getting 1% better everyday can make anyone 365% better at the end of the year. There is something called ‘Just one more skill needed’. So, learning something new everyday, exploring something new, and implementing it on yourself may lead you to success. Failure is good – make mistakes and learn from them. Remember that Edison failed 10,000 times before perfecting the incandescent electric light bulb, there’s a quote which says ‘If you haven’t made mistakes in your life you have never tried something new’. So just wake up, make yourself better, learn, explore, create and implement and you will definitely find the key to unstoppable success.
You also have a blog page. Since when did you start your writing journey? What is the best part about this activity?
This journey of writing was quite unexpected for me; it was something I never thought of. It began when I started reading books and there were certain books which inspired me a lot – those books changed my perception about many things. I read somewhere that till the time I am reading something I don’t feel like wasting time, which I believe is real indeed.
Read Here: Everything happens for a reason
The first article which I seriously wrote was ‘Everything happens for a reason’ because I came to realise that if this shift of conviction can happen to me, it can happen to everyone, who has the will to accept changes and learn.
How do you upgrade yourself in writing skills?
I write whatever I find interesting and whatever comes to mind. Whenever I read something or watch any video which I think might be a good enough topic to write about, I do it.
Who is your favourite author and what kind of books do you prefer reading?
I don’t have any particular favourite author. The one I feel has created some value for me which I can implement, I consider that one as my teacher. But there are some authors whose knowledge I love to pursue, and even their books are worth reading.
Some of them include: Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki, Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel, The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari/ Who Will Cry When You Die by Robin Sharma, Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins, and The Almanak of Naval Ravikant by Eric Jorgenson
What are your aspirations?
I want to see myself in the place where I believe I belong. I just want myself to be someone who can create value for anything I’ll come across in the future. I don’t want to die ordinary, I want to be the author of my life, not the victim of it.
