Primary students at Apeejay School, Kharghar celebrate International Tiger Day

On the occasion of International Tiger Day observed on July 29, themed ‘Their survival is in our hands’ for 2021, Apeejay School Kharghar conducted an online event to ‘Save the Tiger.’ Primary students participated in virtual activities such as making a tiger mask, drawing and painting a tiger, to actively pledge to conserve them.

As the species play a vital role in maintaining the health and diversity of our ecosystem, currently, tigers are nearing extinction due to the cutting down of trees, habitat loss, hunting, and illegal trading of tiger body parts. Therefore, in order to spread awareness on tiger conservation, students showcased their talent by dressing up as a tiger, preparing tiger models and role playing along with promoting a positive messaging regarding the issue.

Class teachers further briefed the students about the national animal and how we could facilitate supporting their survival. Short videos and rhymes were shown to the students to help them better understand the severity of the issue.
