According to news sources, the national steering committee appointed by the Union government has concluded the formulation of the new national curriculum framework (NCF) for school education.

A senior official from the Union Education Ministry revealed that the final version of the new NCF is expected to be released in the coming days. The majority of the suggestions put forward in the draft NCF, which was published by the ministry in April, will be retained in the final framework.

Notable recommendations in the draft include the implementation of modular exams for classes 11 and 12, the introduction of a semester system for class 12, a focus on multidisciplinary education in classes 11 and 12 with reduced segregation between science, arts, and commerce streams, and the adoption of innovative assessment methods, such as self-assessment.

The national steering committee, led by former Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) chief K Kasturirangan, convened in Bengaluru last week to finalise the framework.
