A well-rounded education includes not only academic achievements but also the development of skills, interests, and character through extracurricular activities. Finding the right equilibrium is a personal journey that requires self-awareness, planning, and a commitment to holistic growth, propounds Akshay Dhadda whose daughter Anaya studies in the nursery at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park.

Excerpts from the interview.

Why did you select Apeejay as an admission choice?

I am from Jaipur and after moving to Delhi, I started looking for an apt school for my young one. There were a few criteria I had like proximity to the house, good academic structure, and a friendly school environment, all these were duly fulfilled by Apeejay and I was extremely happy to have found such a good school for my daughter.

How is Anaya’s school journey so far?

My daughter has been going to school since July 2023 and it has only been a few months so far. All I can say is that she is enjoying school. She wakes up on time daily without throwing any tantrums. This shows that she looks forward to spending time at the school. What I also feel is she has already started to learn sentence formation and the meaning of words, which is good for her progress in other classes later.

How are the teachers at the school?

I have interacted with a few teachers at the school and our experience so far is wonderful. Since my child is too young right now, we as parents, have limited interaction with teachers. All the communication is only with the class teacher who gives us daily reports about our child, which is quite helpful.

What sort of activities does your child enjoy at school?

Overall, the teachers, campus, and other activities at this Apeejay branch are really good. There are interesting activities organised which my daughter particularly loves like drawing competitions and school picnics.

Describe your parenting style.

We are more focused on her holistic growth. We want her to grow and develop in a wholesome manner with a well-rounder personality. I want her to participate and explore her other talents and interests apart from her studies. My dream is to persuade her to make her career in arts or any hobby she takes up in the future and this was one of the sole reasons we selected Apeejay for Anaya.

How much do you agree with the adage – that school is the second home for a child?

I am in complete agreement with this adage since my daughter is learning so much at school. Not only studies, but her social skills, mental skills and emotional skills have also been leveraged here. She has also started to take more interest in studies and learning new concepts and likes to do self-study often.
